We built a frame that would sit on top of the cabinet and that we could attach the trim to the frame above the cabinet.

The first problem was that there was no lip on the cabinet in which to add molding.
I used clorox wipes which did the trick and got all the dirt and grime.

Cut two of the plywood strips to the height of the door and apply wood glue to the backside of each.
As the doors ended so did the top of the cabinet.
We used titebond wood glue for this step.
The higher the better so you aren t bending down and killing your back.
After adding the trim pieces to all the cabinet doors sand the edges of the trim to make everything even.

I am thinking about doing this to our flat faced cabinet doors and.
If it is a wooden trim simply nail it to the cabinet.
Then it s time to fill in all the holes and gaps with wood filler or spackling paste.
The frame measures the exact same size as the sides and front of the cabinet.
And i know i would go positively cuckoo with a kitchen of naked cabinets and all the drawer stuff all over the house so i decided to split this up into the span of what became three days.

Set up your doors on saw horses or somewhere easy to move around them on all sides.
Clean your cabinet doors.
You can attach it to the edges around the perimeter or flat on the face of the door.
Sand the doors lightly to remove any dirt and gloss from the old finish.
This step completes the addition of trim to the kitchen.
If trim is being placed on the cabinet doors that are lying flat the trim should be covered with a plastic wrap.
Remove all the hardware from the cabinet doors.
