Ada toilet clear floor space.

A single wheelchair must be able to rotate freely inside a bathroom. Refer to figure j. For this kind of motion a clear floor space of at least 60 inches in diameter is required allowing a 180 degree turn. Centering the clear floor or ground space on elements is often advisable but is only required at drinking fountains kitchen work surfaces and washers and dryers.

Where the toilet room or bathing room is for individual use and a clear floor space complying with 305 3 is provided within the room beyond the arc of the door swing doors shall be permitted to swing into the clear floor space or clearance required for any fixture. 603 2 3 door swing exception 2 figure j lavatory clearance overlap at door swing. However an exception is made in single occupancy toilet rooms if another required clear floor or ground space is available that is outside of the radius of the door swing section 603 2 3. In addition there might be two doors within a restroom. In some cases the available clear space can be supplemented by open space under a fixture to meet the minimum requirement. A door may swing into a required wheelchair turning space. A door may not swing into a required clear floor or ground space at a fixture.
